EMDR Therapy

What is EMDR THERAPY?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based therapeutic approach designed to help individuals process and heal from trauma, distressing memories, and negative experiences. Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR uses guided eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation to help reprocess difficult memories, allowing the brain to integrate them in a way that reduces their emotional intensity.

EMDR is particularly effective for those struggling with symptoms and manifestations of trauma, PTSD, anxiety, and relational challenges. By targeting unresolved experiences that may be affecting your present life, EMDR can help you move forward with greater clarity, resilience, and emotional well-being.

I am trained by the Parnell Institute in Attachment-Focused EMDR levels 1, 2, and 3.

What is Attachment-Focused EMDR?

Attachment-Focused EMDR (AF-EMDR) is a specialized approach to Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing that integrates principles of attachment theory to help individuals heal from relational wounds and early-life trauma. This method recognizes that our earliest relationships shape the way we connect with others, regulate emotions, and view ourselves. When attachment disruptions, such as neglect, abandonment, or inconsistent caregiving, occur, they can create deep-seated patterns of insecurity, anxiety, and relational difficulties in adulthood.

AF-EMDR goes beyond traditional EMDR by emphasizing safety, attunement, and a strong therapeutic relationship, ensuring that reprocessing happens within a secure and supportive environment. This approach is particularly effective for individuals who struggle with trust, self-worth, intimacy, and emotional regulation due to past relational wounds.

By integrating attachment repair into EMDR, this approach helps clients not only process past traumas but also develop healthier, more secure ways of relating to themselves and others.
